Your first steps in the snow park
The snow park looks like a place for experts, but everyone who rides it started with small jumps and simple tricks. With the right progression, freestyle is safe, creative and a lot of fun, and it improves your balance and confidence everywhere on the mountain.
In Freestyle Foundations your instructor spends the whole session on freestyle skiing. We start with ground tricks on the piste, then move to small jumps and easy boxes when you are ready. You learn how to approach a feature, how to take off and land, and the park rules that keep everyone safe.

What you will work on
- Ground tricks. Presses, spins and butters on the piste, to learn balance and control before leaving the snow.
- Jumps. Approach speed, pop, a stable position in the air and a soft landing on small kickers.
- Boxes. How to get on, stay balanced and get off a box, starting with wide, low features.
- Park safety. Reading the park, checking landings, and the rules every rider needs to know.
Who is it for
Teenagers, and brave parents
This workshop is for skiers who are confident on red runs and want to try something new. You do not need any freestyle experience.
It is perfect for teenagers who want to learn tricks the right way, and for parents brave enough to join them. Adults who always wanted to try a jump love it too. Twin-tip skis help, but your normal skis are fine for a first session.
Book it privately for the most feedback per run, or as a small group of friends or family with a similar level.
Common mistakes we fix
What goes wrong in the park
Most falls in the park come from a few simple mistakes. Your instructor will spot them early and show you how to avoid them.
- Leaning back on take-off. Sitting back on the lip sends you into the air off balance. We teach a centred, strong take-off.
- Too much speed. Speed is not courage. We show you how to check and control your speed for each feature.
- Stiff landings. Landing with straight legs is hard on the body. We teach soft, absorbing landings.
- Skipping steps. Big jumps come later. We build a clear progression so each new feature feels easy.

Freestyle lessons FAQ
Do I need to be an advanced skier?
You should be comfortable skiing red runs in control. You do not need any experience in the discipline itself: that is what the session is for.
Do I need twin-tip skis?
No. Your normal skis are fine for ground tricks, small jumps and easy boxes. Twin-tips help if you want to ski backwards and land switch later on.
Is freestyle safe?
We follow a careful progression, start small and always check features before using them. A helmet is compulsory for children under 16 and strongly recommended for everyone in the park. A back protector is a good idea too.
What age is it for?
Most of our freestyle students are teenagers, but children who ski confidently on red runs can join, and adults are very welcome. Tell us the ages and levels when you book.
Private or small group?
Both. Book privately for the most feedback per run, or as a group of up to five people with a similar level. It is a great way for friends and families to try something new together.
How long is a session and when does it start?
Every Tech Taster is a 3-hour session. Morning sessions start by 10:30 and afternoon sessions between 13:00 and 13:30. Early starts give you the best snow and the quietest slopes.
Where do we meet?
We confirm the meeting point when you book. Usually we meet at the top of the Bendolla cable car in Grimentz, but we can also meet you in Zinal or elsewhere on the mountain. Your instructor contacts you the day before to confirm the time and place.
